Executive Summary: Using Chatbots in “Media to Disciple Making Movements”

Overview

On February 13, 2019, 41 people representing 29 organizations gathered in a video conference to learn how chatbots are being used in two ministry contexts to foster on-the-ground movements (DMM, CPM). Levi presented a 30-minute case study from the Middle East and AJ gave a 10-minute case study from Asia followed by Q & A. Participants were given the opportunity to share their interest in this topic.

Here is the recorded session. The notes and slide decks are available below.

June 20, 2019 UPDATE on this case study…

  • There have been 4 face-to-face meetings with Cornelius. Because Cornelius lives in a remote area, meeting has been difficult but we just had the 4th meeting this past Monday and are planning to do phone calls regularly to coach Cornelius on moving forward towards starting a Discovery Bible Study. Cornelius and his wife have said on several occasions that they are following Jesus and are continuing to share their new faith. We are having Cornelius and his wife read passages about baptism and they will discuss what baptism looks like for them. Cornelius now lives in a different town than his father and siblings so there’s potential for a group to start with his family as well as in his new town. He continues to demonstrate that he is the type of person we’ve been looking for.
  • We’ve had 3 other face to face meetings with possible people of peace and all 3 were solid contacts who are including people in their discovery of Jesus and they have ongoing interaction with us. So 4 out of 4 face-to-face meetings have been solid contacts which encourages us that our high-bar filtering is a good strategy.
