2/15/22 Executive Summary: Media to Movements Content Meetup

Overview

On February 15, 2022 the “Media to Movements Filmmakers Forum to Serve Strategies” (now known moving forward as the “MTM Content Meetup”) brought together 27 creatives to source content useful for MTM practitioners. Representatives from three groups presented briefly including Todd Miechiels and Zachary Leighton working with 3:15 Project/StoryDrive and Reliant Creative as well as Yiyi Zapata with CV Global Resources. StoryDrive believes Christians are sitting on powerful testimonies of God at work and wants to provide a simple approach to encouraging believers to share those stories using a simple backdrop and camera setup, as well as by providing knowledge on story breakdown and presentation. CV Global Resources offers a regular email newsletter sharing new short film content on different topics of life and worldview that can be used in media ministry outreach. See below for further resources and notes.

Session Recording

Featuring:

  • Story Drive  is a vision of the Church intentionally walking together to cultivate, harvest and share stories in God’s love. During this episode we heard from Todd Miechiels and viewed an intro trailer linked here titled “Unleashing Stories for God’s Glory”.
  • Reliant Creative is a full-service digital creative agency for Christian ministries. They also provide a library of free online training resources.
  • CV Resources is a free library of quality downloadable Christian videos. They are also eager to partner with content producers.

Other Notes:

  • Key discussions on how to become capable storytellers and help ministries and nationals communicate with their partners with greater regularity.
  • Making low-cost, street level, ground-up type of videos and content that are relevant to the Berber young people works more effectively rather than apologetic approach.
  • Cognition. In a population that we focused on, there’s a high level of consumption where people are consuming media at a very rapid rate but the engagement and ability to contribute is a hurdle. The connection between what they are seeing, relation to real life and what to do with it is an interesting hurdle to go over. There are linguistic issues dealing with multiple different languages like regional dialects and etc.
  • We have to figure out ways also for people to respond in non-literate ways for a certain population like those accessing the internet for the first time.
  • There’s all kinds of content but finding content that will enable our particular audience to interact, that will lead to face to face meetings and meaningful conversations is the biggest trick.
