Clyde’s List of Perfect Films

After a dinner conversation with friends about the two movies we would take if stranded on an island, I decided to attempt a list of my favorite films (see my top two below).  This actually makes for very interesting conversation and is a great way to get to know people better. Here is a longer list of films I consider worth watching.  Here is my short list of perfect films (“10 out of 10” rating).

  • A Cry From Iran. The most sacred film I’ve ever seen.
  • Princess Bride. Amazing, amusing, great for a family.
  • Napoleon Dynamite. Beautifully quirky.
  • What About Bob? So many good lines.
  • She’s Having a Baby.  I loved it when I was single, then when I was married without kids, and finally when married and trying to start a family (haven’t seen it since then…our son is now 29).

Ok, that’s four comedies in a row. Yes, I like comedies.

  • Dark Knight. Brilliantly dark film making.
  • A Separation. Amazing cross-cultural study of choices and consequences. Best foreign film I’ve ever seen.
